A letter from Dr Josh about Coronavirus

As the situation regarding the Coronavirus / Covid19 develops, we wanted to let you know that here at the Lyme Disease Clinic, our team is continuing to monitor the situation closely.

My priority at all times is the health and safety of my patients and employees, and I am continually monitoring the advice from the UK Government and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

I therefore took the decision on March 23rd 2020 to close my clinic at 48 Wimpole Street, London whilst the UK undergoes a period of enforced self-isolation. I will reopen our doors when the UK government indicates that this virus is under control and I feel it is once again safe for my patients and staff.

Although our physical clinic is closed, we have opened an interim virtual clinic and are working daily to help all of those in need. I will continue to hold appointments on a Monday and Tuesday, but now it will be by video conference call. My team are rapidly bringing me into the 21st century!

Our telephone line is also open Monday to Friday 10am-4pm +44 (0) 203 095 0009 and you can continue to email us on: info@lymediseaseclinic.co.uk for help and advice.

I understand that many of our Lyme patients, will be concerned about a disruption in their treatment and monitoring. We are trying our best to maintain as many of the services as possible for you, but as you will have been hearing in the news, we are living in unprecedented times.

One of our challenges is that we are one of the only clinics in the UK to do the specific blood tests that are run by the BCA-lab to test whether you have Lyme disease and co-infections, as well as to monitor how you are improving once you are in our treatment programme. You need these blood tests so that we are able to determine whether you are on the right medication and dosage.

We are therefore dealing with each patient on a case by case basis, helping you all to maintain your current treatment protocol whilst adapting some of your programme if there is disruption due to Covid19.

Q&A’s about our Lyme Clinic, our patients & Coronavirus

Please note that this Q&A section will be continually updated in line with advice from the UK Government and the WHO. Therefore, we recommend that you keep rechecking this page or following our Facebook page @lymediseaseclinic to stay abreast of the latest information as it happens.

Is your clinic still open?

Yes, our London clinic is currently open to help existing and new patients with Lyme disease. You can reach us by telephone or email during opening hours, and make an appointment to see the Lyme team.

Call us on: +44 (0)203 095 0009

You may also Email us on: info@lymediseaseclinic.co.uk

Can I still come into your clinic for an appointment?

We still have our full Lyme team in the clinic able to treat you, do your bloodwork, or to make an appointment with Lyme Nurse Georgia Tuckey or Dr Joshua Berkowitz.

We understand that many of our patients, already unwell with Lyme disease, will be concerned about coming to the clinic for appointments, treatment and blood work.

Where possible, it is still best to come to the clinic as you would any other medical appointment and this would be considered ‘essential travel’ for your health.

We must state however, that you must do what you feel is best for you. If travel to London is currently a challenge, please call us to discuss your particular circumstance and we work with you to find a solution.

Is it safe for me to travel to your clinic?

As a medical clinic we continue to take advice from the World Health Organisation and the UK Government. This advice continues to change daily and our best advice is that you must do what feels best for your personal situation.

Our clinic itself currently poses a low risk environment due to our enhanced treatment protocol and low patient numbers we are seeing on a daily basis at the moment.
